A quick trip to the grocery store

Posted by Texasholly |

My grocery list:

Oh, are you going to the store?
Can you pick up a few things?
Let me just add a few details to my list for you.

Hmmmm...let me be a little bit more specific.

Wait.
I thought of a few more things.
It is kinda confusing.
Let me have that list!

Maybe I should just go myself...

Soooo familiar! (And it is easier, faster and cheaper to do the shopping. Last trip for TWO items DH made cost $148 because he wanted the seal a meal contraptions and special spices to make deer jerky.) yeah.

Oh my gosh that is hilarious!! Mine looks VERY similar if I send the hubs out to get stuff. It's just easier to go myself...

Should I tell you about the $200.00 mine spent at Whole Foods when he went there to buy fruit?

Or the $150.00 he spent on things I usually buy at Target because they're so much cheaper?

And dog shampoo? Really??

Mine comes home with whole milk. That's if I can even get him to go.

Oh, can you pick up some Diet Dr. Pepper for me while you are there?

Oh my gosh, that's so true! My list currently has:

Lunchable (the small pack with just crackers, meat, & cheese. Need ham & cheddar, not swiss. Get three. One with turkey & cheddar.)

Bagles (pre-split kind, prefer the Honey wheat. Get the cheapest brand, which I think is Sara Lee but not sure)

Granola Bars (Kashhi kind. Almond something-or-other. crunchy bars, not chewy bars. Box has a golden bad I think. Or maybe burnt orange.)

The end.

That is so true. I sent my husband to the store one time and had "ham" on the list. He brings home a freakin 3 lb ham. I just wanted ham for lunch meat.

I send those kinds of lists and STILL get the phone call that says, "Okay now which one am I supposed to get?"

It's definitely easier to go yourself.

Just have him call you and you can walk him through it.

Or when he comes home with all this other Random stuff .. oreos.. Pink milk mix.. slice and bake cookies.. Its like seriously !! AND he doesn't get what you asked for.. SO much easeier and cheaper to go..

LOL! I have to say, though, that when you narrow it down to "organic", the choices are so slim, you don't need to be specific. ;)

If you think this is bad, I have to type out grocery lists for the hubby and then include pictures of the products themselves and where at the store he can find them.

But I try and cut him some slack...he's British and if I don't do things this way, he comes home with pudding mix instead of cake mix. Or when I tell him to pick up some biscuits, he gets cookies. At least when I say tea, he usually gets that one right!

hahahaa! That was hilarious. I am a single guy and when I go to the store the list is similar but normally includes something from the meat counter and cheese. I can live on grilled ham and cheese sandwiches...

That is funny. Although, when I make a list even if its specific, I get the wrong thing. Ex. On list: Miracle Whip Light. Received: Cool Whip Light.
Its really difficult to make a tuna salad sandwich for the kids out of tuna and cool whip. Eww.

i think if i would make my list that specific maybe he wouldn't call me from the store 14 times to find out exactly what i wanted and then after i snap at him for calling 14 times he makes a decision on his own about which bread i intended for him to buy and he buys the wrong one! agh. too funny... I love it!!!

Oh man, this is so my life. It really is just easier to go yourself. I keep thinking my husband will figure out the things we actually eat, he LIVES in our house, but he always comes back w/the wrong brands, expired food...

HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, better off just going, because if it were me, even after altering that list, reviewing it with him 20 times, he would go to the store, and leave the list on the counter.

Ha! It's always easier to go myself than send the hubs.

So how did he do??

And what's a vegetarian chicken?

And this is why I would rather do the shopping than send my husband, even though he volunteers to go all the time, and often does just make a run on his way home from work.

OK, I seriously laughed out loud at the tuna & cool whip comment. AWESOME! That's my vote for Peep of the Week!

I'm impressed with your penmanship, I could actually read the whole list - of course if it were me, it would be sitting on the car seat while I was shopping. :) Or better yet, still at home.

what? it seems perfectly clear to me...

Ha - vegetarian chickens!! Shouldn't that really be the norm?

Eww.

And this is why I refuse to grocery shop on the weekends - FULL of clueless hubs.

And could you pick up my shirts on the way back?

Anonymous said...

I would have made you go after the first revision!!

I was gonna do a post about my grocery list this week! So glad I didn't. It would have been far inferior to yours.

Do it yourself. It's not worth the headache to deal with the consequences of the alternative.

Love it! This is so what I do. Thanks for making me feel "normal"

I actually used to make notes like this when my husband first started doing the shopping. Now HE would have to make such a list for ME!

And women wonder why men don't like to shop- they aren't allowed to have opinions on what they EAT, let alone buy,lol !!!!!!
