About that Christmas gift...

Posted by Texasholly |

Dear Brother and Sister-in-law,

It was early on black Friday when Ryan and I entered the Target toy aisle. It was crowded. We were looking around when I saw it.

It was the perfect gift for your daughter, my 4 y/o niece.

I picked it up and it looked at me.

I jumped a little.

A lady near me looked at me questioningly.

I said, "It is disturbing, but it won't be at my house".

She smiled a knowing smile.

I put it in the cart.

It continued to look at me and occasionally meow.

Later, in the minivan, it continued to "meow" around every corner.

Every corner for 5 days since I forgot to take it out of the back.

It freaks out adults, but enchants children.

It is the Fur Real Kitty Cat.

Here is a sneak peak at my generosity:

The toy has a very disturbing Pet Sematary vibe...

...which is only worsened by the "I really 'come to life'" tag line.

I had no idea that Stephen King was now designing toys.

Sweet dreams.

Lovingly,

Holly

Toys R Us has the dog counterpart. Eerie.

I so love buying for the nieces/nephews knowing it won't be me with the therapy bills later. Then my kids open their Uncle's presents...

Reminds me of the "Peek A Boo Big Bird" that rode in the back of our jeep for 6 hours. Note to self: Take OUT his batteries at the next rest stop....tired of hearing "Peek-A-Boo!" every time we drive under an overpass!!!!

That is too scary/cute. Kinda like Don King. Or not.

LOL Holly. Those animals creep me out too. Not going to be one in our house this Christmas... I hope.

God, I wish I'd seen that for my niece! Maybe we'll donate her gift to toys for tots and go again.

Actually, I have a brother and BIL that I can't wait to have babies so I can give them all the noisy toys!

PASS! Just looking at that thing creeps me out!

Princess loves this cat. I have this suspicion that one of my dear aunts or uncles has one waiting for her. My mom was the oldest and has sent many annoying toys to live at her siblings' homes and they like to pay her back via her granddaughter.

Oh my goodness! That is so creepy!
Yet so PERFECT for my purposes. I think one or more of my nieces might be getting one for Christmas this year. My brother & I have a contest going for who can give the others' kids the most annoying toy.

I won last year with Boomwhackers (noisy AND violent). I think I can keep the crown this year with the kitty.

I agree with previous posters... Steven King's Pet Cemetery immediately came to mind with this one.... IT is that creepy...

Of course it keeps meowing- you keep hitting the box!

Seriously...this is cool animatronics for the home. Do you think they make a For-Real Husband that says things like "You are hotter than when we met"....now that would sell like hotcakes...

:)

I can't find my blog said...

Eeeew. So glad my boys don't want one.

That's the kind of thing my mother-in-law would buy for my kids...

LOL...Stephen King designing toys...priceless! It's that kind of line that keeps me coming back for more (even though I should get off the computer and do something productive in real life). ;)

Tee hee! Leave it you, Holly, to find such great blogging fodder in Christmas shopping! I'm looking forward to more... HINT, HINT!

I can't personally go shopping for any Christmas presents in America, so it's all done over the internet and the boxes are waiting when we arrive just in time for Christmas...

Humor me and amuse me with more tales from Target!

I am so glad I caught this post - The Girl had this on her list and I didn't know what it was. I am so glad I can in good conscience go ahead and NOT tell her grandmother about this.

You mad at them or something?

I wouldn't let that thing in my house. I walked by a few in the car and I swear their eyes were following me.

That is one freaky cat.

I may seriously get it for my husband- he's pestering me for another pet and that's as close as he's gonna get.

Wow. Chills. (Oh, wait - that's cuz my office is FREEZING!)

There are some baby dolls that coo when you touch or move them - they freaked out my 1yo at Target the other day. Disturbing trend! DISTURBING!

Oh. My. G-d. That is the funniest thing...wonder if they'll do a dog, too, and we can really play Pet Sematary together?

Ah...the creepy cat...we have been fighting that particular battle for over a year now. Why do we need it if we have a real one?

My biggest battle was with a Furbie. One night, it was oh about 3am, Furbie woke up and kept saying, "I scared, I scared". I thought it was one of my kids so I went racing out of bed only to find Furbie yammering on and on. I looked at Furbie, said "You really should be scared..." and ripped the batteries out of him and threw them away. Which makes me a Furbie murderer. But I don't care, he had it coming to him.

Okay, dolls freak me out enough. I couldn't sleep with that thing in the house. That's a horror movie just waiting to happen.

Dear god, make it stop. {{{{{shudders}}}}}

Tilly is a Cat-a-holic...we already have 4 or 5 meowing kitties and several "teachable" dogs, too. This year the nice quiet American Girl dolls are requested...and Snorkie wants
Wall-e...I can handle that one.

Remember those huge Kermit the Frog dolls at Macy's about four years ago? An aunt gave us one. Pinch his hand and he says "has anybody seen Miss Piggy?" and four other things. I heard one of the other things in the middle of the night once, doing a child check, and stepped on Kermie's hand. He went "YAAAYYYYY" as only Kermie can do. Time for a clothing change for Mommy.

Thanks for the laugh, Holly!

Love it!

I worked really hard before I had my kids not to get my niece and nephew loud, scary, annoying toys because I knew one day I'd have kids of my own and my sister would be able to get me back. She obviously forgot about that because she gets my kids every loud, annoying, scary toy there is. Now it is no holds bar at Christmas and birthdays!

Ooh, very creepy... but all too familiar. We have two Fur Real pets in our house. One bunny and one cat. Only, the cat we got from the Goodwill, and one of it's eyes doesn't close all the way. Sometimes it reminds me of a pet version of Chukky.

That is so messed up - and my daughters would be screeching that they want one if they'd happened to walk by just now. Hooray! THey didn't!

I kinda hate lifelike animal toys. Dolls too! Baby Alive is one of the creepiest!
