I have admitted here repeatedly (hoping confession is good for the soul) that I am not the world's best cook.

Or even the world's second best cook.

Really, the world screams "uncle" when I cook.

Aware of my one fault, I have attempted to make up for it in other ways so my family isn't completely malnourished.

I watch what the boys have for snacks.

I pack healthy lunches.

I do what I can.

The boys like all those little packets of drink mix that you add to water bottles. As a treat once in awhile we choose a flavor...peach tea, pink lemonade, grape, etc. and shake, shake, shake for fun.

I was happy to find pink lemonade with added protein that the boys drink with gusto. A little extra protein mid-morning seems to help dispositions.

I then found a drink with a full serving of vegetables! Be still my malnourished heart. What could be better than that? The boys are always a little light on the vegetables.

So we added it to the water.

We stirred.

And stirred.

And stirred.

It tastes as bad as it looks.

Using a goldfish glass might have been a little pond-water foreshadowing...

Oh! That does look scary :). Poor gold fishies.

Yuck! That reminds me of when people rave about juicing everything, including greens, and then slurping it down. Glad it works for them. As for me - that's why they make Centrum.

That's beer, isn't it? Mmmm...beer...

I was expecting more of a V8 sort of look. Are you sure it contains vegetables and not seaweed?

I'm pretty sure your twin went to my high school, unless you grew up in Jennings, MO.

Pure. Genius.

I think I will try to get Benny to eat real veggies using this drink.

Egad! Even a little cheese sauce wouldn't help that.

EEwwww! Guess there's something to be said for limited Russian groceries.. We don't have "engineered" foods that exist in the US... I sure wouldn't want to try that one, though!

Will they drink V8? Genny LOVES v8. both the fruit and the veggies ones.

Also, ZipFizz is a big hit for her...

Yeah, I think I would opt for the bag of baby carrots instead.

I just threw up a little in my mouth. {gag} That stuff looks NASTY.

i havae taste-tested that stuff at costco.

and then i had to have a mocha freeze to try and obliterate the taste.

n.a.s.t.y.

Roger said...

You actually tried it?!

That looks like something you would have dredged up from your creek.

On a slightly serious note... was it supposed to be a warm drink? It looks like it just needs a little heat to help the 'silt' dissolve.

Rachel said...

That's just nasty looking. UGH!!!

Would a broccoli cheese dip count? I'm making one Sunday for Monkey's b-day party :-)

Hugs you silly girl you.

That does look a little...unfortunate. But kudos to you for trying!

Kalynne Pudner said...

I was going to make a comment about people in parts of the world who'd be HAPPY to have that on hand to drink...but then, I'm not so sure about that.

Beth (A Mom's Life) said...

Hmmmm....if it was V-8, you weren't supposed to add it to water...you were supposed to drink it straight up.

:)

JenniBeanV said...

Ewwie. Did you taste it? I don't think I would have been able...

Louise said...

At least you gave it a shot!

And don't worry about not being the world's best, or second-best cook. My mom HATED cooking. HATED. IT. I can count on one hand the different meals she made. I wasn't too fond of any of them (except maybe the canned ravioli). I turned out fine. I even love cooking, and everyone loves my cooking. Your kids will be FINE! They'll probably tease you about some of those things when they leave the house and are not depending on you for their sustenance, but it will all be in fun!

V-8? Is gas mileage so important nowadays that this no longer an option? Have I just given myself away as hopelessly old?

Hubby and I laughed our bootys off at this one. We like to try those drinks too, and that was just gross.

I am ALL ABOUT the V8 Splash juice. Throw out the pond scum and get some.

P.S. You should start some kind of betting scheme where I can put money on which post I think my comment will end up on.

Holly - they have a kind called VitaWater that has actual fruit juice in it, at least, and a whole bunch of other good-for-ya's.

And it honestly tastes GOOD.

Hi Holly, Thank you for visiting my post on blogs! I love your pictures here:) And I did only post part of my results chart. I have been blogging awhile but only since I started doing what I am have I increased it. Live and Learn! I must say I prefer my veggies the old fashioned way!

Madge said...

did they really ask for real veggies? really. cuz if they did i am buying that drink mix.

Vodka Mom said...

I GOTTA try that in kindergarten. no shit.

mommeeof9 said...

If you only have healthy stuff available, the kids eat healthy things. Mine love any raw fruit and some raw veggies. We rarely have chips, cookies, etc around.

Auds at Barking Mad said...

Well so much for thinking about asking you what this wonderful veggie in a packet was all about. That looks positively awful!

Salubrina said...

oh dear.....oh, d--d--dd--ddear-dear. (piglet)

(shameless plug ahead, fast forward if you need)

my son, who is autistic, used to hate vegetables. texture issues mostly.

for the last few months we've been taking a whole food supplement called Juice Plus+, which is a capsule containing the most nutrient rich fruits and vegeatables.

now that he takes that, he literally begs for veggies. we will be in the produce section, and he'll yell out, "mom, look! brussel sprouts! you HAVE to let me get some!" i kid you not!

they also have Juice Plus+ gummies for the kids. it has all the same stuff as the capsule, but in an easier-for-the-kids-to-handle form.

i sell it. it rocks. i've personally lost over 30 pounds so far, and now willingly eat veggies and fruits myself. :-)

(shameless plug is now over...)

seriously though, that goldfish glass has been violated! :-)

I have to say that looks a bit yucky.
