Oh THIS is why we have a dog...

Posted by Texasholly |

Last night Rhett (2) shocked me by devouring watermelon. A lot of watermelon. He ate piece after piece all the way down to the rind. At the end of supper he had a scattering of 6 watermelon rinds sitting in front of him at the table.

This morning Rhett (2) shocked me by devouring peanutbutter on toast. A lot of peanutbutter on toast. He ate piece after piece all the way down to the rind...

I just totally have to laugh at how kids will use one thing to translate to something else. IF IT SUITS THEM!

Only Holly would take a picture and blog about it, though!

Hilarious! That looks like the table after lunchtime at my house...every day.

HAHAHA. Awesome.

Awwwwe, Rhett is so cute! <3

At least he's eating! That's saying a lot for a toddler, right?

Oh, you've got to keep that picture forever!

This is so funny! And I LOVE the name Rhett!

Sweetie, you ain't seen nothing yet. In about 8 years you might as well just convert your house into a grocery store! This is so a sign of things to come.

hilarious.

what might have happened if you had cut off the crust?

Jennifer S said...

That is hilarious!

(BTW, can you hardly even wait for the day when your kids will eat the crust? I'm still waiting, here.)

Sounds like someone is about to have a major growth spurt ;)

Awesome! Now can he come over here and show Jack Jack how to eat? Because I have a full bowl of cereal for our dog.

Courtney said...

That is too cute and funny!

Suzie said...

Yeah Id hate to have to eat those crusts totally yucky!

peanut butter toast is my fav, I'd help clean up those crusts, save the dog some heartburn!

Brian (hubby) also devours peanut butter toast, but he eats the rinds.

How are his, ahem, bowels today? Our doctor told us on Monday at chemo that watermelon can, ummm, how can I say this.... REVERSE the effects of constipation... Adding that to a 2 year old who maybe hasn't had a lot of water melon in his life could not be pretty.

growth spurt! what a cutie.

OMG, that much watermelon and I'd be peeing until Tuesday.

He's going to be 6'4". Wait until he starts drinking gallons of milk at a time. (This is very cute, btw)

That picture is too perfect.

My sister always eats her bread while leaving the crust behind. Always has. She's 14 now. *sigh*

Snorkie does the same thing. Doesn't want watermellon if it is already cut up...but he'll eat slice after slice if I let him. Hasn't hurt him yet!

Ok, I hate to criticize here, but there is A LOT of good peanut butter left there. And what's in the mug - his morning coffee?

A Mom Two Boys said...

Did you see the story on the Today Show yesterday about the amount of food the average American family throws away? Totally reminds me of that.

And, gosh he's so cute. Looks like he got a haircut recently?!

Colleen - Mommy Always Wins said...

Oh funny...that look on his face is just priceless. Like "what are you TALKING about?!?"

Natalie said...

how cute! did someone come along and eat what he left? those leftovers would have ended up being my breakfast at my house!

Anonymous said...

Yep, that would've been my babies' breakfast. They're too young to understand leftovers. Kate even crawls under that table after meals to see what we left behind. Gross.

And that is why our dogs have gained a TON of weight in the past year and a half. Bread crusts. Everywhere. Ugh.

Rhett is getting too big. It's making me feel old. Just sayin'.

Valarie Lea said...

If you total all the bites he took he probably ate a whole piece of toast :)

Jennifer said...

can this boy possibly get any cuter??? ;)

wow! you sure do know how to make some cute little boys! job well done!

i love how he ate the toast to the "rind"! :) He must be planning on doing some growin' with all that eatin'. :)

I second those comments that a growth spurt is coming ... and I also suggest that watermelon and peanut butter are a gross combination.

The dog had a good morning, huh?Nothing like pb toast with a little science diet cereal!

Lizz @ Yes, and So is My Heart said...

That looks familiar. I had to cut my son off after he ate some toast this morning. I think he would have eaten the entire load. He likes the peanut butter on his as well.

LOL - very cute .Looks familiar here too ... I am getting fat eating the toast and sandwich rind here x 2 toddlers

Eternal Sunshine said...

SO cute! And I'm with AFF - at least he's eating.

Mine - usually a little touch and go in the eating dept.

Rebecca (Ramblings by Reba) said...

Now you're just silly.

And I LOVE it!

My oldest is one of the pickiest eaters on the planet, but she will always scarf down watermelon and peanut butter toast.

Ron Davison said...

Now that was clever - toast rinds. (Of course, clever is hardly anything new for you.) I remember when my then 2 year-old daughter discovered watermelon at a friends' place. We all laughed at how eagerly she devoured it. For awhile. About 18 pounds later, we were beginning to feel a little chagrined.

What a cute photo. It's like he's doing shots with all the empties lying about.
