My first two boys were thumb suckers despite my best binky-pushing techniques. Eventually with each boy I finally gave up. Thumbs it was. Ryan also developed a very close relationship to his teddy. Reid also developed a very close relationship to his blanket.

When Rhett arrived, I half-heartedly pushed the binky. It was out of habit and without hope. To my surprise it took. He was officially a boy with a binky.

Binky + Boy = Love.

So I declared it...

Ryan had a teddy.
Reid had a blanket.
Rhett had a binky.

All was right with the world. I could keep up with three things. One special item for each boy. No problem.

And then Rhett decided that one binky just wasn't enough. If more was better than four was best.

FOUR B'S!

So, four B's it was. They were small. I could slip them into my purse or in a corner of the diaper bag.

Then he decided he needed animals to take a nap.

Not just one animal, but MANY animals.

Alright, animals. Animals we have. Animals he loves.

And then he decided he needed blankets.

Not just one blanket, but MANY blankets.

Alright, blankets we have. Blankets he loves.

The crib was crowded.

Crowded with love.

*Rewind*

One of these things is not like the other.

One of these things just doesn't belong...

Oh, that is Rhett's "hot dog".

It is on the A-list of loveys.

Who can fall asleep without a hot dog?

Yep, Rhett's "hot dog" is actually Shigella the microbe that causes a stomach ache.

Maybe Rhett's family has attended one too many health profession vendor fairs...

This:Plus this:Would make the de-germination of the house much easier. We are digging out of mountains of used tissues, rivers of 1/2 consumed water bottles and valleys of snack crumbs. There is finally light through this fog.

Dear reader, Thank you for returning. Blog-Stedman has thoughtfully made this in honor of you:
Feel free to display it proudly on your blog, print it out and wear it, enlarge it and display it on your home, make it much bigger and slather it across your private jet. Whatever works best for you because you deserve it!

3 sick monkeys and a mommy in bed...

I am thankfully taking the advice of Happy Campers who encouraged me to not fight through the cold medicine stuper I am in and attempt to put sentences together. Instead I am blessing you with this lovely picture. It may not seem like a blessing, but I just read what I was about to publish and believe me...you should go thank Happy Campers.

You may want to don mask, gown and gloves...

Here at nirvana headquarters we are into day two of complete sickness. Our sick count has increased from 3/5 to a full 100%. The boys in our bed last night also reached an all time high of 100% by 1 am. Huddled masses of attack arm and legs yearning to be free of cough and chills. Needless to say, I don't think that event helped my and blog-Stedma's sleep. I have been doling out medication like a pharmacy every 4 hours around the clock. This is a full service gig. There are two postive things to report: When everyone is sick then the energy level is condusive to a 12 hour Tom & Jerry marathon with breaks to watch Wacky Races. And, I caught up on the missing Project Runway episodes.

Thank you for all your well wishes yesterday. You may want to go wash your hands after reading this...

Change in the weather...

The cliff-hanging ending was resolved with a 3:30 doctors appt. for mom and 3 boys. First grader went to school, mom and other two spent a "restful" day and then we all went to the appt. The boys were fine. The doctor commented he had never seen such happy and active sick people. I, on the other hand, was not well--maybe I was just projecting my sickness onto them in search of sympathy!

All is better today and hopefully by tomorrow my head will be defrosted. Meanwhile, in the real world, we did get a cold front (by Texas standards) and are currently playing in the backyard at a "cold" 64 degrees (although still in shorts, but with mostly LONG sleeve T-shirts). I did just say no when the request for the hose and buckets of water were made--after all it is winter!

Doctor, Doctor, give me the news...

So I have been adding a symptom a day for the last 6 days that have now combined into something intolerable. All the kids have a hacking cough that sounds like a lung will emerge at any moment so it is time to take the trek to the doctor. Lucky him, all 4 of us trudging in. Amazingly, Greg has not caught any of this...yet. A question is what to do with 1st grader--take to school and then pick up for appt. or hold out hoping to have an am appt. What shall we do? Tune in later for this cliffhanger...
