My first give away...

Posted by Texasholly |

The blogworld is an amazing thing. I started this blog a few months ago to keep in closer contact with friends. In the process I have "met" new friends. In the process I have MET new friends!

One of the new friends I have met is Jenny Gardiner. She wrote the book "Sleeping with Ward Cleaver". Since I have a little June in me, I had to read the book. I now admit to a little mommy crush. Not on Ward, but on Jenny.

I really enjoyed the book. The fun thing about "Sleeping with Ward Cleaver" is that it doesn't end with the girl getting the guy. It doesn't even start with the girl getting the guy. The book starts with Claire married for years with 5 children.

Married for years with lots of kids...now that is a story to which I can relate. Now there are tons of other details in the book to which a married mom of children MIGHT also relate...I am unwilling to disclose HOW MANY other details. You will totally understand why when you read this very funny book.

Which brings me to the give away...Oh, you don't have the book? I am giving a copy of the book away. All you need to do is leave a comment on this post. If I am unable to hunt you down through your blogger profile or blog, please leave your email address. I will close the contest in exactly one week.

If you can't wait that long to read "Sleeping with Ward Cleaver", I got my copy at Barnes & Noble. Jenny also writes a blog, The Debutante Ball with a group of amazing female authors.

And as if that wasn't enough...there is ANOTHER giveaway in a colder part of the country. Go visit Domestic Accident and guess how much longer her front yard will sport a snowbank.

Addendum: After a few comments, I realized that I didn't make it clear that I am not sending you my copy that is dogeared and disfigured from bathwater. Jenny has graciously offered to send you a BRAND NEW ONE! Thanks Jenny...

I always love a book--a book giveaway is even better.

I'm giving away a book today too--coincidentally Oprah is talking about the book I'm giving away RIGHT NOW.

Me, too! I love books and the only way they can get any better is if they are free.

I wonder if Domestic Accident's snowbank will last longer than mine... must go take a peak.

P.S. - Pick me! :)

Me . . . me . . . pick me!

Actually, I started the book (borrowed from a friend), but gave it to my sis so she'd have something to read on the plane! She finished it that day! I don't know if I'll ever see it again *sniff* She's already passed it on!

This is great. I haven't done a give away yet. Is the hubby back at work, yet?

Holly! You're my hero right back! How SWEET of you to do this! I was really happy to happen upon your refreshing and hilarious blog--it felt like kismet, what with our Ward connection and all. And then to find all of these other awesome mom blogs that keep me from getting any writing done--icing on the cake!

So I was really thrilled that you loved the book---and wow, to spread the word like this-- so thoughtful of you!

I know all of you moms can totally relate to this book, so I can't wait to send a copy off to whoever wins it!

Thanks again June ;-)

I want to read this book! And not just because the protagonist of my second novel is a married woman with five kids, either. (I've been following Jenny at The Debutante Ball since before the release, wanting to read it.)

But even if I never win any give-aways ever, I still have my new blogging friends...and good advice from Babatunde.

I was just whinging (okay, I may have been making Nat's ears bleed) about how I had nothing good to read *whine whine*.

Not at least I have the possibility of something new to read.

Arghhh that is supposed to say *Now at least I have the possibility of something good to read.

Hate typos.

So, when I read the book, do I get to highlight all the parts that I think apply to you :)...ok, maybe I will do that for myself.

Since I don't have a laptop and I will be sitting in a doctors office every two weeks for hours on end, I figure I will have more time to read these days. Hell, I'd even take your disfigured dogeared copy. That sounds pathetic and I don't mean for it to. They take books in the cancer center on a mobile book rack for such sorry souls as ourselves spending hours on end doing table puzzles and drinking free crappy coffee. That sounds pathetic and I mean for it to.

KEEP BELIEVING

I wrote a post about the friendships created through blogging yesterday.

I love contests. I love winning them even more, so do your best to pick me. If not, I will have to buy the book, or hope the library has a copy.

KiS said...

Reasons why KiS deserves to win:
1. I live in Canada, in an igloo, my dogs (for the sled) and boycotting me. They refuse to take me to the nearest city to get reading materials(of course this would be Toronto). I'm stuck here and my satellite feed may run out soon, cutting me off from the world! I need reading material.

2. My son POOPED on my "igloo" kitchen floor the other day. I'm still dismayef by this. As such I need something to take my mind of memories of poop-on-white-floor.

3. I would read the book and then divulge MY similarities to this Claire woman. I promise.

KiS said...

I would also promise to read my next post BEFORE I post.

Hi June Cleaver Nirvana! I'm a good friend of Jenny Gardiner's and she gave me the link to your blog. I've been a stay-home mom for almost 11 years. My boys are ages 10 1/2 and 9.

Oh yes, and did I mention I'm famous?! Look inside SLEEPING WITH WARD CLEAVER under the acknowledgements. Jenny listed me! I'm in print! Which means I must be famous now!

Oh yes, and I got to read SLEEPING WITH WARD CLEAVER months before it was released to the public! Well, what can you expect when you are famous?

But seriously, this is a darling little blog you have!

And SLEEPING WITH WARD CLEAVER is a hilarious book. I loved it!
