2009: A New Chance to Drop the Ball

Posted by Texasholly |

Last year I made a list of resolutions.
Last year I broke all those resolutions.
I am thinking that maybe resolutions aren't really for me...

I don't have anything against improvement.
I don't have anything against goals.
I am anti-list.

I am just not a list person.

Is she really going to blame her lack of resolution-keeping on not liking lists?

I have tried to make lists.
I have made fabulous lists.
I have followed lists...

for a moment, for a day, for a week.

And then the list is forgotten.

All the super important information detailed on the very crucial list is gone.

And the list becomes a pile.

A pile of lists.

And then I walk by and see the pile.

And then I freak out about the pile.

And then I go through the pile.

And see all the very important lists.

And then I freak out about the list.

Since I am working toward a lower stress level in 2009...

My resolution is to stop making lists.

Please note that this resolution is not in list-form.

My resolution was similar...just vague enough that I can't get pinned on it when I eventually have a resolution FAIL.

Happy New Year and good luck on that stress level!

i live by lists.

i like lists. cuz then i can cross stuff off. and when i do something that's not on the list, i put it ON the list.

just so i can cross it off.

I think that is the most perfect resolution. My resolution this year was not to make any resolutions. I also fail at keeping them.

My resolution is to be completely honest with my friends....So here goes...
This is the dumbest resolution I have ever heard of. Whew. I said it. I expect a list of your resolutions by the end of the day.

You and me both Sister! I am so not a list person, and then I feel bad that I am not a list person. Everyone around me is a list person. Shouldn't I be a list person to?

Its so bad that I let my BF keep up with my schedule, because I forget where I left it. She will get a call like this, "Am I supposed to be doing something today? I feel like I am supposed to do something and can't remember what it is."

I have to do lists. I am lost without lists. I am a bit neurotic.

Enjoy the freedom from THE LIST :)

I love the dropping the ball metaphor. Mostly because if it's not on a list, I drop the ball.

And, I really could care less about a big glass ball somewhere. Hmph. Bah Humbug much?

That looked a lot like a list. Just add a number and, whammo, a list. A list of one . . .

I have never been a list person either. Maybe one, at the beginning of the day of the really important things that MUST be done before I hit the rack, but that's it.

Nice list. I mean, resolution. I mean . . . whatever . . .

Thank God that you just have a pile and not 'piles'. They really hurt and are way more embarrassing than broken resolutions.

great idea. :) i love lists, but don't always do what is on them. i feel it is much better, for me at least, to make lists of what i have already done, not what i have to do. lol :)

have a great year in 2009, i can't wait to read more about you and your family here.

xoxoxo

You're so witty - love the title of this post! Good luck with your non-list making in the new year!

If you took my lists away I would start hyperventilating.

I would never remember anything if I didn't make a list. And although I do lose my list 50% of the time... that leaves me with remembering things 30% of the time.

20% of the time I have my list but I don't feel like doing or getting anything on it so I throw it away. :D

I looove lists. My lists have little check boxes next to them so I can mark the tasks as I complete them. Sometimes my lists are in Excel, sometimes color-coded, sometimes both.

I like lists, I just don't read them. :) Hope your 2009 is wonderful!

Nuh uh, no lists here either. A close friend of mine gave list making kits out for Christmas... I am sooo re-gifting it ;)

1. I totally got the pun in the title
2. I would die if I had to go a day without making lists.
3. My resolution is to floss more. I think I've already achieved it.

First time here, came because I saw the title somewhere else and wanted to read the Pun-Meister blog. Great stuff here.

i love lists! i have lists running in my head and on paper all the time. when we got back to the states i found a list from before we moved to turkey. it was a list of all our antique furniture and who was holding it for us. i was happy to have it! now i know who to go to to beg for my stuff back! yeah lists!

lists stress me too much. too much pressure to perform. i love your new layout...i thought i was lost for a minute. very cool!

I need a 12 step program for lists. I hate them, but I don't have the strength to stop relying on them. When I make a new list, I add the unfinished stuff from the old list, and I avoid the piles. That's just my tip for you.

I gotta have a list. I wouldn't get a thing done otherwise.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of writing a good list. Because in my imagination I am very organised and a good list keeps that fantasy ticking along...

I make lists all the time, but I almost always end up losing them. If I could keep track of where my list was at I would probably be better at following it.

Ah well... lists are just recyclables anyway. Unless you are talking about todoist.com <--great site.

((hug))

Happy New Year, Miss Holly

Lists suck. Unless they're lists of stuff my husband should buy me.
