A pb&b potluck

Posted by Texasholly |

Happy Monday! Today is the first day of school for my first born so the potluck will be abbreviated due to "labeling fatigue". Any mother of a lower grade school student can feel my sticky, sharpie stained pain. After labeling pencils, crayons, markers, rulers, pencil boxes, books, notebooks, backpack, lunch box and water bottle I just need a nap...

So today's food is NOT homemade at all. This is a real sacrifice easy one for me since I would have stopped by the grocery store on the way to the potluck anyway. This was a special request of Ali who is concerned about eating homemade food at potlucks because she isn't sure what people are "scratching" at home. EW!

What is up with Holly's coccyx?

Just the question, "how long could this possibly persist?" And if your answer is anything in excess of one more week please don't mention it...

Let's find out who is Peep of the Week!

This comment was in reference to last week's Peep of the Week:

Dude. Drama TOTALLY needs to write me a letter.
(Jealous!)

This week's Peep of the Week has created one of those picture inside of a picture inside of a picture inside of a picture....events in my brain because in reference to last week's Peep of the Week the original creator of Peep of the Week wins this week's Peep of the Week! Congrats Loralee!

And now for something really different...

Rhett (2) pleaded last night that I spread peanutbutter on his bacon. Since his bacon was of the faux variety I reasoned that putting peanuts on top of soybeans would be no big deal. And he was whining and pleading and making my brain bleed.

He reports it is very yummy. In fact he requested it again at breakfast. No one else in the family is brave enough to try it so I have no collaboration if it is true.

Yep, it is that time again...

a bunch of green bananas.

One more thing before you rush to find your peanutbutter and bacon...

Go! Have a happy Monday!

I agree with Ali. Did you ever watch those cleaning shows? Some very normal-looking people live among piles of poop and pet hair.

I always bring store bought things to potlucks, since I'm too badly organize to remember that I'm going to one until five seconds before hand.
But if it's something baked, who cares? Cooked cooties won't kill you.

Very inspiring post by Writer Dad.

I'm ashamed to say that I've had bacon and peanut butter--not exactly the way Rhett had it, but I put peanut butter on my pancakes and inevitably there's somet peanut butter and syrup on the plate to be mopped up with the bacon and . . . yum!

He's a future foodie! Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches on toast are awesome!

If they can make a bacon candy bar ( http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/product/bacon_exotic_candy_bar/exotic_candy_bars ) I guess peanut butter on bacon isn't that much of a stretch...

Are you serious about the coffee? And, the peanutbutter on bacon doesn't sound that bad...but I'm talkin' real bacon not the fake stuff.

OK, I am DEFINITELY not brave enough to try this, but my SIL swears by peanut butter-bacon-mayonnaise sandwiches.

Future Adkins Diet poster child. Poor baby! I hear you crave what your body needs. Feed this kid more protein, you savage!

Had a blast last night! (while you were eating chicken, that baby was eating PB & pork...tsk tsk tsk)

Wow, really?

I couldn't do it. Heck, I couldn't even smell it.

Roger LOVES bacon, peanut butter and tomato sandwiches. Having never tried one, I think they are disgusting.

Wow. One of the most amazing posts ever written, huh? I think I definitely have my work cut out for me this week then. I can't allow myself to peak so early.

Shoot me. It's more than a week. It's FOREVER! Or at least 34 years. I have traveled several times this summer and each time my 34-year-old coccyx injury hurts.

It won't hurt like it does forever, but long trips will always be tireseome and achy.

And the whole peanut butter/bacon (stripples) thing is too hilarious. I'm sure my brother used to do th ings like that.

My girl would try that fake bacon/peanut butter combo. Of course, she eats it frozen, too.

I have a brother who used to claim he LUVED pb & ham. To this day he swears he still eats it. I think he's mental, but I see a theme...

Can you be absolutely sure that Rhett is not pregnant?

Ahhh I remember labelling fatigue I had labelling induced nightmares involving black textas and glue. scary stuff
It is always a bittersweet moment when they go off to school for the first time..*sigh* and truly fake bacon? My mind is boggling.... fake bacon eeeewww... Why would you eat fake bacon?

Wow, peanutbutter-soyabean-bacon... now that's something new to try.

I can't find my blog said...

You crack me up, Holly.

(Lurker, first time commenter. I think.)

You'll have to have a wake for the coccyx segment if you're going to kill it. I have a feeling that there will be coccyx-lovers out there that can't live without it. (Wow. That sounds really weird.)

And! I would totally cook for the potluck. side dish? salad? casserole? Let me know!

I think peanut butter bacon might just be good! Salty and sweet...that kid of yours is ON to something BIG!

I find myself wanting some blogtips (cant remember that category in your old potlucks) about adding embedded comments. Awesome

Oh my god, how cute are those BOYS? Such great summertime pics.

P.S. I meant to leave that comment on the post with the ACTUAL summertime photos. Otherwise it would make no sense, duh.

I am a dumbass.

well I've made no secret for my love of my favorite treat--the chocolate and bacon bar so I can understand--the pb might be OK as its real bacon--the faux kind is just a lie ;)

So people actually think that they can trust the folks at grocery stores? I say boil everything - even the green bananas.

And peanut butter on soy bacon. I'm pretty sure that was what fueled the Huns in their quest to conquer the known world. If Rhett gets that patented, you might have college paid for at least one of your three. And given it's not real bacon, I think that you have an actual shot at a patent.

I have green bananas in by bowl, too.
And my coxxyx is just fine.

I broke my tailbone almost 15 years ago.
And while I no longer need the donut, I can still feel it shift sometimes when I sneeze.
And now I put on my falsely bright voice to say, "But I'm sure yours won't do anything like that!"
Are those cookies over there?...

I forgot to add in my earlier comment that I'm SO IMPRESSED and PROUD that you actually label the things of your children....

On my daughter first day of school, the teacher asked me to stay and help check in the supplies for the other kids. I did not mind, so I did. The day before I had labeled everything a 1st grader has to take (which is a WHOLE LOT in my opinion). When checking everything in, I had to label every other kids stuff because their mom's didn't do it.

So the teacher, or whoever was helping her, thank you!

Now, I am going to sound like an idiot, but why did my last two comments for this post, about the peanut butter and bacon (would it be called a sandwich?) potluck, show up with potty training Nirvana?

I mean reading about me wanting you to call Rhett Elvis twice on a completely unrelated post can get confusing, not to mention ruining the whole funny part (at least in my mind) in reference to Elvis' love of peanut butter and bacon (okay it's really banana) sandwiches.

I'm so confused, that I hope this finally makes it to where I intended it to go, because I'm starting to ramble on - wow, that song just started playing on my computer... how weird is that? So weird, in fact, that I actually misspelled weird and I NEVER do that! Don't look, because I already fixed it. :P

About the peanut butter and bacon....It is indeed good. My mom always ate her bacon on top of peanut butter and toast. I tried it once and loved and my husband is now hooked as well.
