Yesterday I took the older two boys to Six Flags. It was Reid's (5) first trip to an amusement park. I had a sneaking suspicion that my little adrenaline junkie would enjoy himself. We started in Looney Tunes land with the kids rides.
We then worked our way through the park onto bigger rides. Reid fell in love with the roller coaster. He was interested in riding them all, but at a little taller than 42" that is not an option.
For the last ride of the day I found one of the bigger coasters that would allow him ridership at his short stature. I sat next to him and heard his happy screams. When it was over I was surprised to turn and see this:
Such a sad face!
"Reid, did that scare you?"
"No mommy."
"Then why are you so sad?"
"Why can't roller coasters be longer?"

Oh I hope my boys are like yours, because my husband vomits on roller coasters, and I am so not wanting to go through that again.
Oh just precious....And you're NUTS for going to Six Flags on such a hot day! Glad you guys had fun :)
awe! I share that same sadness, honestly!
I have to agree you are crazy for going on such a hot day. WE are soo bummed we missed the experience. Maybe we can all go togeather another time. I am assuming that was Judge ROy Scream or Tony Hawk. Luke has done both of them and had the same look. But not the same answer..GLad you guys had fun.. How did Ryan do??
I hate roller costers. If my kids like them they are riding alone you are very brave
I know I was twice his age on my first coaster ride (Worlds of Fun in KC,MO), but I had the SAME exact response.
How cute. Just tell him they wouldn't be as fun if they lasted longer!
Awww. You may be in big trouble.
We were on our way out the door to go to Six Flags over GA this a.m. and the power sliding door on the van broke! We couldn't budge it with or without power and we've spent the whole morning finding someone to fix it and get a rental.
I'd rather be riding roller coasters! All day long!
I SO TOTALLY AGREE with Reid!!!
I am going to make a trip to St. Louis in the next two weeks before school starts and take my boys. (to 6 flags, that is)
KEEP BELIEVING
Darn It! We need to get to our 6 flags, it's like 20 minutes away! When we took Sj to DisneyLand in December, she rode her first roller coaster. I couldn't believe the excitement she experienced and was thrilled she caught the amusement park bug just like her mom (dad gets motion sickness!).
The only downfall, she had to actually wait in line to go again, we had to drag her off!!!
You're either a roller coaster person or not. It's more fun when you are.
That's soo true. Smart kid.
My hubby hates roller coasters so I hope at least one of my kids likes them so I have someone to ride with.
Oh, what a funny thing. Sounds like the perfect date to an amusement park.
Tell Reid I'm with him. Haven't been on a coaster since our one year anniversary trip to Hershey Park (yup, we're big kids).
How sweet is THAT?!?
I love roller coasters--we grew up new Cedar Point--THE roller coaster park. I need to take the kids to Six Flags :)
He has a point about the length of the rides, especially when they compare to the length of waiting. Ugh!
I'm impressed that y'all went in the triple digit weather, I would have been a big pool of sweat. You can say Ewww now. :)
We had a similar experience with both of our older boys. Such fun to uncover the hidden adrenaline junkie in a little boy.
My older daughter had a similar response to a tilt-a-whirl ride that I thought was going to make ME hurl. She was distraught when it ended, but I couldn't handle another ride. Kids are so funny!
That is SO sweet!
When Chic turned 5, I took her to Disneyland for the week. (S will take Chicklet next spring when she turns 5.) California Adventure had a roller coaster than in 3-1/2 days we rode twenty-seven times! There were barely any lines anywhere, so we had a terrific time. She's tall for her age and could only not go on a couple. She loved everything except Space Mountain (which freaked me out a little too with the flashing lights).
It was one of the best experiences of my life--sharing my daughter's first roller coaster experience.
I know how you felt!
Aww. That's great. I made Puppy take Knute on the only coaster he was allowed to ride at Disney. I don't do amusement parks well.
WE took our kids to Santa's Village a few summers back and they rode the Rudoplh Coaster.
OH THE EXCITEMENTS!
Great shots, lady!
I have the same thoughts, cept on the TX Giant. Then I'm just prayin' my spine doesn't snap.
What a doll.
I hope y'all had a truly fantastic time. Looks like it! I love Six Flags and can't wait to take the kiddos when they're bigger. I love his comment, I've had that same thought. Great captures.
Does the road from Bryan to Corpus count as a roller coaster? It was like an amusement park ride with screams, bumps, food, funny smells and crying.
That's awesome, I used to say the same thing as a kid! Cute boy.
Thats so cute... I love roller coasters, but I guess I better not since I am pregnant!
I ma not sure which is worse; fearless or fearful of everything ☺ Great shot!
Now that's a great day! Wow. What an experience and to want more! :) High five MISS HOLLY! whoot!
Count me with Reid. They SHOULD be longer! Love the way you captured the day!
The expression on his face is priceless, but I so wasn't expecting what he said! *lol*
Awe. That brought a smile to my face.
He is so right.
Why can't they be longer?
What a "boy" thing to say! Sweet...
